{ Faux Farmhouse Utensils for Under $10!!! }

Happy Tuesday sweet friends, readers, family ..EVERYONE hehe!!! Thanks so much for stopping back in on my little growing blog! So today was one of those days where I didn't sit down until 10pm..no joke. I got so much done today including painting, cleaning & some DIY projects lined up for the blog...I know, me planning blog post - Uhh crazy right?!? Anyways if you're following me via Instagram or Facebook { Links below for both } then you would know we've been doing a semi major overhaul in the kitchen. We've added a vintage pantry door, 1940's barn door & with all that comes decor changes too... I picked up this sign I love from Hobby Lobby & needed something to put next to it to fill the space..So knowing how I am, I went searching for something I already had in the house , and came up with all these extra bamboo utensils I had bought from Bed Bath & Beyond for $7! I wanted them to look aged & have that old worn/aged/used farmhouse look..so I broke out some $1 black paint & essentially dry brushed some black paint onto them. See how super simple this project is & all for under $10!!! I mean of course the authentic farmhouse/ cottage utensils are amazingggg , but not for $10 a piece at some of the vintage shops...Come see how to make these for cheap & in about 20 minutes time!
1.)
So I started out with these clean dry utensils..I decided to use a $1 store brush that was 2'' for easy application. The 2'' is about how wide the utensils are so it helped hit in the right places for that desired aged look. You can use any brush though.

2.)
This is what one application of paint looked like. Be sure not to saturate the brush, but more use a "dry brush" technique. I wanted more of a distressed look, so I added a bit more in some places..You really can't mess this up. If you happen to apply too much, just use a wire brush to buff some off.

Side Note: I used regular $1 "dollar spot" paint from +Target , no fancy chalk paint for this DIY.

P.S. I promise those cookies weren't staged there haha..They were leftover from our weekend BBQ.

3.)
So here is what they looked like after 2 or 3 brush strokes with minimal paint on the brush.

I love how they turned out!! I'm giving you guys a sneak peek at the dining room revamp too.. Sign is from +Hobby Lobby  for $20 originally $50!

I hope you guys liked this SUPER SIMPLE cottage/ farmhouse DIY. I mean when it comes to projects I like to keep it as practical as possible & this pretty much demonstrates that haha. Oh, I should mention too this DIY is super rental friendly too, because I used +3M  to hang these!!!

As always THANK YOU for stopping in on my little growing blog. I know everyone says it, but I honestly appreciate each of you for sharing my posts, commenting etc....I'm not the biggest or most popular blogger , but I am humble & practical ,and  hopefully helpful or inspiring in someway :).
