{ Cottage Style Early Spring Fireplace Decor }

Hey everyone!! I hope you all had a lovely start to the week! This was the most unproductive Monday ever for me, I think haha! I blame it on my husband having today off for his birthday hehe! Seriously though I usually have everything done by Sunday for Monday & then spend Monday doing errands & making a big dinner to start the week off...Ehh not this Monday & I'm okay with that actually! It was so nice to lay in bed extra long today with the bright warm sun filling our bed & having a guilty snack brought to me { I'm dieting for vacay }! I don't know if it was our whopping 46 degree "warm" weather here in Michigan that had me wanting to finish a little space while the sun was so bright & cheery or what! I've been mention via INSTAGRAM that I've slowly been adding spring touches around the house...Well I finished one space & it's very green!!!

I had an idea in my head when I started decorating this space...I wanted to stick to 4 basic colors, add tons of texture & bright simple greenery! I ended up using the AtHome topiaries I had bought last year & had on the front porch , because they filled up the sides of the fireplace until some new items come in #staytuned!

This is my most favorite of the simple spring decor..The simplicity of these stems & this farmhouse flower vase are gorgeous I think without being to modern!

I love the old chippy green chair paired with the chippy white mantel..Everything is so fresh & garden- like..my favorite!

The candles & candlesticks are from +HomeGoods  &  +Hobby Lobby !The vintage tan crocks were free junkin finds!

I salvaged these wood farmhouse table legs from a 100 yr old table my late papa & grandma had bought together in Canada! I love old carved legs from tables etc.. so I kept these three! I needed something for in front of the fireplace to cozy it up, so I grabbed these & loved how they looked with the basket above & go nicely with the jute rug coloring & old brown vintage books!

This space like most of our spaces in our little suburban cottage will change again soon..but for now we're enjoying this fresh,decluttered space for spring..What do you guys think about our little cozy fireplace decor?

Happy & healthy Tuesday!

{ 7 Simple Home Decor Fillers }

So the one thing that I pretty much live by when I'm decorating & trying to cozy a space up is fill spaces that the eye goes directly too or that are too open! These spaces are called "filler" spots! They tend to be spots that are hard to find the correct decor for, but need a bit of coziness. Now that I'm thinking about it these items could be called "staple goods" too. They're just all around simple, but easy items to put in a space that needs help..& bonus most of these items are practical & thrifty! I put together the most basic & affordable items that I thought were the best fillers & I use the most in our suburban cottage! These items can be found just about anywhere & in tons of varieties! I thought I'd share this now because with spring right around the corner I want everything fresh, but also less cluttered etc.. These items can help do both!

F i l l e r  I t e m s:

  • Frames
  • Candles
  • Pillows
  • Baskets
  • Greenery
  • Books
  • Mirrors

Our upper level living room. I chose this picture because it's pretty accurate on what I'm explaining in this post & was a good example!
**Some simple frames fill the long shelves inside the cabinets with greenery both inside on the shelving & tall topiaries on top of the cabinet for height! The basket on the chippy green stool is filled with pillows & a basic white +IKEA USA  throw! The cabinet top also has some simple fresh white candles for fillers on each side!

What do you guys think about these items? Do you have basic items you always use while decorating a space? What are your favorite decor goods to use? Let me know in the comments I'd love to know!!!

Happy Monday!
